On April 12th, 2018, Corrie team member Jane Wang presented Corrie at the Society of General Internal Medicine Annual Meeting 2018. SGIM organized their conference around the theme of “Health IT: Empowering General Internists to Lead Digital Innovation” and highlighted many sessions on machine learning in healthcare, informatics, the use of digital health to serve vulnerable populations, and EHR innovations. Eric Horvitz (Technical Fellow at Microsoft, MD/PhD from Stanford) delivered the opening plenary speech and shared insights from Microsoft Research’s work with artificial intelligence and machine learning in healthcare.
Jane presented Corrie at the Hands-on-Tech session, where the committee allocated her a designated booth in addition to poster space. Corrie was extremely well-received and enjoyed many visitors as well as admirers, and the committee head shared that Corrie was very highly rated in the selection process. In addition, Jane had the opportunity to deliver a 5-minute rapidfire presentation of Corrie’s work to Eric Horvitz and proceeded to answer follow-up questions. Jane was more than a little starstruck but was so proud to represent Corrie at SGIM! What an amazing opportunity for the Corrie team!
