Dr. Merali earned his combined M.D. and M.B.A. degrees at Harvard Medical and Business Schools, with a B.Sc. from MIT.
Dr. Merali has served on the operations advisory board for a new health clinic in Boston, and led the creation of a website to educate the public about the American health care reform process. As an Ophthalmology resident at the Wilmer Eye Institute/Johns Hopkins Hospital, Dr. Merali served on the Housestaff Patient Safety and Quality Council and as a fellow of the Armstrong Institute Research Scholars Program, while leading research in Patient Safety, Quality, and Efficiency of care. He was been recruited to stay on as faculty in the Division of Cornea and External Disease at Wilmer upon the completion of his fellowship.
